Top 10 Best PS4 Racing Games By Jason Siu Mar 26, 2020 This console generation, the Sony PlayStation 4 has really led the way with epic exclusives such as God of War, Spider-Man, and Horizon Zero.
You don’t always have to jump online and go through a game with other players. Sure it’s nice to go along a campaign with a friend or two, but sometimes you rather just sit back and enjoy a video game alone. Either after a hard day at work or a long session at school, tuning in to a fantasy world and going through a video game can turn things around. If you’re a fan of single-player focused video games and want a heads up on what to expect for 2020, then we have you covered. In this list, we’re going to showcase some of the more anticipated video games releasing in this coming year. Likewise, check back often as we’ll continue to monitor and update this post when new video game titles are revealed.
#15 The Outer Worlds – Peril of Gorgon
Developer: Obsidian Entertainment
Publisher: Private Division
Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, NS
Release: September 9, 2020 (DLC)
Co-op: N/A
Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Obsidian Entertainment has made some truly remarkable RPG video games over the past several years and their last big release that has come out into the market was 2019’s The Outer Worlds. In a lot of ways, the game acted similarly to the development team’s time with the Fallout franchise. It’s a first-person RPG experience in which players are traveling through different planets and completing missions. Each decision you make has a consequence and the narrative really shifts around towards your will. However, if you completed the game don’t write it off just yet as most of us will be ready to dive back into the RPG epic once again.

Two DLC story expansions are coming for the game with the first set to release on September 9, 2020. This DLC is called Peril of Gorgon where players will take their crew that they’ve established during the campaign and embark on a new storyline journey. Sent to an asteroid named Gorgon, players are in for a noir-themed investigation that revolves around a mysterious drug and murder. Just like with the main campaign, there is a ton of choices that players will be able to make throughout and each will play a role in the narrative. Outside of that, players can still expect a slew of new weapons, armor, and characters to interact with.
#14 Twin Mirror
Developer: Dontnod Entertainment
Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment
Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO
Release: 2020
Co-op: N/A
Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
Dontnod Entertainment has a new episodic adventure title for players to enjoy. The development studio may be best known for their Life is Strange series but the next episodic journey coming this year that’s not attached to the Life is Strange franchise is Twin Mirror. This is an upcoming psychological thriller which follows a protagonist named Sam who returns back to his old hometown to attend the funeral service of his best friend. Things take a turn for the worse when he awakens with no memories of the previous day while covered in blood.
The development studio is not known for delivering video games with a multiplayer component. Ever since their first release, Remember Me a last generation game that released in 2013, Dontnod Entertainment has only developed titles with single-player in mind. They also seem to thrive on their narrative journeys that are filled with choices and consequences which does give some incentives in not only playing it casually on your own but going back to replay the game to see just how certain situations would have potentially played out.
#13 Ghost of Tsushima
Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
Publisher: Sony Interactive Entertainment
Platforms: PS4
Release: TBD
Co-op: N/A
Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
An upcoming action-adventure game that may be a quick sale for players due to the developer working on it alone is Ghost of Tsushima. Sucker Punch Productions is the development studio behind the game and it’s slated to be based around the last samurai of a small island. We’ve seen this game on and off over the past couple years, but we’re hoping that it makes out of development and into the market before the end of 2020.
As mentioned, this is a game based around the last samurai of Tsushima Island. Set in 1274, players step into the role of Jin Sakai, who is the last person fighting back for the island after it was invaded by Mongols. With samurai no longer being the prime threat, Jin quickly understands that he will need to resort to a new fighting technique known as the Ghost, to successfully fight back.
#12 Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Developer: Raven Software, Treyarch
Publisher: Activision
Platforms: PC, PS4, PS5, XBO, XSX/S
Release: November 13, 2020
Co-op: Online/Local
Competitive Multiplayer: Online/Local
Call of Duty is an annual video game franchise so we were expecting something to come out for the franchise in 2020. We now know that title will be Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, a title that is actually set to take place after the events of the first Call of Duty: Black Ops game. This time around as the name suggests, we are the height of the Cold War where a time of uncertainty looms over nations due to the threats of nuclear war nearing. Players will be taking the role of Russell Adler, a CIA officer that is been tasked to hunt down a believed soviet spy by the name of Perseus.
This is a step back to the traditional Call of Duty title for the Black Ops series as if you can recall back to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 release, the title didn’t come packed with a campaign for players to complete. Instead, it was a multiplayer-only focused game, but this upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will come packed with a campaign storyline that you can complete alone along with a slew of multiplayer game modes such as the return of the beloved Zombies game mode.
#11 Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
Developer: Ubisoft
Publisher: Ubisoft
Platforms: PC, PS4, XBO, XSX, PS5
Release: 2020
Co-op: N/A
Competitive Multiplayer: N/A
After Assassins’ Creed Odyssey launched into the market, Ubisoft opted to put the franchise on hold for a year and take time to craft the next installment carefully before its release. As a result, Ubisoft has introduced Assassin’s Creed Valhalla which is slated to release this year. We only have one trailer for the game so far and information is a bit scarce. As a result, more information is bound to come out over the coming months as Ubisoft prepares for a launch towards the end of 2020. In this game, players will be following a Viking expansion that is moved into England where we are supposedly going to have at least four major kingdoms to explore.
The Assassin’s Creed franchise is easy to dive into, especially as of late with players able to step into a unique individual character role and live out their life. From Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players are able to freely explore, meet with different characters, align themselves with certain factions, and tweak their character with a wide range of gear pieces. That’s all likely to make a return, but we do know of at least one major change-up from the last installment. In Assassins’ Creed Odyssey, players felt like they had to grind in order to progress the game. With this installment, you can progress and play the game you’d like to enjoy. Ultimately, if you want to enjoy the single-player campaign then you can do so from beginning to end. Whereas in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, players had to reach certain level caps which oftentimes resulted in completing side quests.
Current trends within gaming can indicate the decline of fantastic single player experiences. Some could say that there is a bigger push to see multiplayer focused video games with game modes mimicking the success that PUBG or Fortnite brought out into the public. With that said, we’re still hoping to see brand new IP’s and new installments to some of our most beloved single player campaign narrative video game titles.

If you’re looking to enjoy something new without having to focus on jumping online or gathering a group of friends then check out our list below. We’ve compiled thirty of our favorite single player video game titles that were released in this latest generation of consoles. Hopefully, you’ll find something new to play. Likewise, being that this list will be updated frequently, we don’t have a list ranked in any particular order. So feel free to leave a comment below of your own top ranking games in your opinion that people should check out.
#52 Watch Dogs Legion
Watch Dogs Legion came out in 2020 which throws players into a futuristic London. DedSec has a new challenge to take care of a strict authoritarian regime. Players this time around are given unique gameplay compared to the previous two installments. Rather than being a standalone character going through the storyline, Watch Dogs Legion thrives on players recruiting members to use in DedSec, and from there, you’ll have the ability to pop into these characters. Each will have their own unique attributes and skills which means hunting down characters is not only a requirement to complete certain missions but at times a thrilling experience.
Once you find a character of your liking you’ll have to complete a mission for them before they’ll readily join up. This diverse set of characters makes the gameplay a bit diverse as you’ll find multiple ways to complete a challenge. However, a big portion of the game marketing is the fact that once a character dies in the game, they’ll be gone forever. Fortunately, this is just an option as you’ll be able to turn it off and use the characters later on after a cool-down period.
#51 The Last of Us Part 2
The Last of Us was such a worldwide hit that fans were craving to dive back into the world featuring Joel and Ellie once again after the game’s conclusion. Naughty Dog really makes a big emphasis on their games not only being highly detailed but also narrative-driven. Each release from the studio has plenty of people eager to get their hands on a copy but even more so with The Last of Us Part 2. Fans were finally able to get their chance to dive back into the world of The Last of Us in June of 2020 and this game picks up years after the events of the first installment.
Ellie is a grown woman now and it seems that life has started to pick back up a bit more than before. With Joel and Ellie living in a thriving town, their way of life is threatened by a new hostile faction. Ellie once again sets on a journey that is seemingly against all odds once again but this time her reasoning behind the journey seems to be fueled by rage and revenge. We’ll of course refrain from spoiling anything here but with both The Last of Us Remastered and The Last of Us Part 2 available on the PlayStation 4, if you own the console platform and have yet to play these games then you’re truly missing out.
#50 Death Stranding
Death Stranding was quite the hyped-up video game title. It comes from a world-renown video game developer, Hideo Kojima, right after the public split from his time at Konami. The developer had brought out several popular video game titles in the past and was in the process of picking up the beloved Silent Hill franchise to deliver his take on the IP. While that game was canned along with Hideo Kojima’s position at the studio, we do have Death Stranding. This is the debut title that came out from Kojima Productions and sets players into a world after an event that has changed so much of humanity.
In this game, players are essentially a deliveryman that is working in a world that has supernatural elements. However, the game plays a big role in how you manage your inventory. You’ll need to carefully position your packages on your protagonist before venturing into hard terrain treks. Of course, being a Hideo Kojima, the narrative can be complex and there are more than a few blockbuster faces that have popped up throughout the campaign. We will, of course, refrain from saying anything to spoil the adventure you’ll embark on if you pick up a copy.
#49 Doom Eternal
After the massive success id Software had with the 2016 reboot of Doom, the development team was quick to continue development on a sequel, Doom Eternal. The gameplay remains mainly intact but simply built up upon. Players will still be tearing through demons but now they’ll have a new array of abilities and weapons such as a grappling system. There’s even a feature added into the game that would allow the demons to visibly display damage from when they were being hit.
While the game still features Doom Slayer taking on all kinds of demonic scum, the story picks up where Doom 2016 left off. Now hell has been unleashed on Earth and the only thing to stand in its way is our favorite space marine. One little attribute that fans may find of interest in this particular installment is the post-launch content that the developers are bringing to the game. With Doom 2016, the game launched without any content to further keep players enjoying the title. As a result, they knew Doom Eternal would need some updates afterward to give players new challenges or content to enjoy once they completed the main campaign.
#48 Final Fantasy 7 Remake
Final Fantasy 7 is not only a fan-favorite video game installment to the Final Fantasy franchise, but its become quite the iconic RPG title in general. Overall, the game follows a mercenary by the name of Cloud Strife who is working with a group to stop the corrupt Shinra megacorporations. Early into the PlayStation 4 lifecycle, we knew that Square Enix would be bringing out a remake but it wouldn’t be until 2020 that we got the first part of this game. This is not the full game, instead the title is an episodic journey and at the time of writing this, we’re unsure just how many installments will make up the full remake. Outside of that changeup, there are a few other changes made to the gameplay. Rather than being a traditional turn-based RPG, this game is an action RPG with game mechanics similar to the Kingdom Hearts franchise.
#47 The Outer Worlds
Ps4 Games Story Driven
From developers, Obsidian Entertainment comes the action RPG, The Outer Worlds. It’s clear that these developers can dish out some great content and after their time with the Fallout franchise, this studio was looking to deliver fans an experience similar to what they had in Fallout New Vegas. Overall, this game follows a protagonist that was set out into space with a group of others in hopes of reaching a planet to colonize.
When their ship gets set off course, the crew and those that were in cryostasis deemed lost forever. That was until a scientist who was labeled mad managed to find the ship and rescue you in hopes that you’ll do his bidding which would ultimately unveil a corrupt ruling organization along with rescuing the rest of the crew. Meanwhile, players also have the ability to side with this organization and aid in the capture of the scientist. The game is all about exploration, heading to unique planets, meeting with the locals, shaping your character up, and twisting the story towards your narrative choices made along the way.
#46 Resident Evil 3
Good Story Mode Games Ps4 Emulator
The remake of Resident Evil 2 was such a huge success that it wasn’t surprising to hear that Capcom was going to continue on that trend with a remake of Resident Evil 3. Now, this third installment wasn’t as long as Resident Evil 2 and it doesn’t feature two protagonists for players to go through. Instead, when Capcom developed the title originally it was more of a cinematic piece keeping the story progression a bit more linear. In the narrative, players take on the role of Jill Valentine shortly after the events of Resident Evil, who was researching the Umbrella Corporation in hopes that she could take the company down legally.
Top Story Mode Games Ps4
However, during her investigations, the virus had spread through Raccoon City with a new bioweapon threat hunting Jill down to silence her once and for all. The game follows Jill as she attempts to flee the city and figure out what Umbrella is really up to. Much like the past Resident Evil games, this is a survival horror gameplay experience where resources are scarce, with a variety of enemies, plenty of exploration, and a slew of puzzles to solve.
